There are a couple of reasons why you might have received a grand jury subpoena. First of all, it might be because you were requested to appear as a witness at a grand jury, or perhaps to provide documents. The most unfortunate circumstance is when you receive a grand jury subpoena because you are the target of an investigation. In those situations, you should immediately contact an experienced criminal defense attorney, so they can advise you on what to do next. Often in those request letters, there is information, the contact information of perhaps the prosecutor involved. That is not a signal for you to reach out and to contact them. In fact, our advice would be for you not to make any contact with any agents or any prosecutors involved in that case, or make any statements to them. Instead, you should immediately contact us so that we can advise you on what to do.
