What Symptoms & Behavior Is the Officer Looking for During the Initial Detention of a DUI?
The officers are looking for a number of different things. First of all, they're looking to see whether your speech is slurred. They're trying to determine if they can smell the odor of alcohol. They're looking to see if your pupils are dilated. They will always ask you for your driver's license and registration. They wanna see how quickly can you provide it to them. Can you provide it to them while they're also asking you a question about where you were that night? Don't answer their questions about how much alcohol you might have consumed that night, where you were that night. It is not in your best interest to provide them that kind of information because they are always looking to try and find you DUI.
